Introduction

Overview

The previous name of our department was Finance and Insurance Department as its establishment in 1998. We keep adapting our position and direction in order to enhance our competition advantage and long-term potential due to the understanding of the fast change of financial sector and the demand of career development from high school students. The department has changed its name to “Department of Finance” and “Graduate School of Finance” in 2015 and merge to educate financial professionals after careful evaluation and discussions.Over 20 years of laying fundamental period, the faculty and curriculum of our department has gradually been improved. We recruit experienced talents from financial institute and academics. We have successfully laid the foundation for the future development and operation of this department.

Department Featured Programs

1. The Features of Curriculum Design

In addition to the major professional program, the planning of Financial Management Department curriculum divides the minor program into “Wealth Management” and “Financial Marketing”, two sub-programs, in order to accomplish the goal of cultivating financial management service talents. The Curriculum adopts Diversified Development mode, and carries forward teaching, researching and servicing dimensions to fulfill the proficient capacity of students. The program of Financial Management goes well with the specialized training of Banking, Securities and Risk Management areas as well as offers multidisciplinary programs, corporate visits, Sandwich Internships in the breaks between semesters, Seminar in Financial Management, and the “Last Mile” Topping program. The purpose is to assist students from multiple admission programs smoothly adjusting their classes, and to stimulate students’ study interest and career proficiency.

2. Internship Program

The Department develops Topping Program and Sandwich Course, which enhance the ability and opportunity of students for persuading their career, successfully sealing the “Last Mile” gap between academic and industry. Our students allow to taking internship program from the summer break of their sophomore year. One or half year Topping Program could be taken during their senior year. The graduating students may truly understand working environment and their responsibilities. Furthermore, the idea of “doing from learning, learning from doing” will be implemented.

Certificate Counseling

Professional certificates are critical for financial services employee. They are clear indication of students’ knowledge. We design five types of professional certificate counseling classes: Finance, Insurance, Security, Computer and other Management. The University draws up “The Key points of Awarding Students’ Professional Certificates”. Half or even full registration fees will be awarded depending on different levels. Students may apply the awards from University’s Campus Systems on- line.

Space Design and Facility

According to educational objectives, we cultivate students what they learn to develope practical power, creative power and working power. Laboratories, Scenario Classroom and facility have been equipped, as well as space design for communication with students. Major laboratories include Wealth Management and Risk Control Laboratories, Risk Management and Insurance Laboratory, Creative Teaching Laboratory and FinTech Laboratory.
